In December 2021 Tulsa Detective Darin Ehrenrich went on television and claimed that James Townes was a serial rapist. On August 17, 2021 those charges were dismissed against the Defendant. This case is a long list of cases in which the Det. Ehrenrich over promised (rapist or serial rapist) and under delivered (dismissed cost to state).
Townes is still facing a (30) thirty year probation revocation, trial in a robbery case and a third matter for possessing a firearm after former conviction of a felony. When asked for a comment the Defendant’s attorney, Keaton Taylor replied that the State, “. . could not get their witnesses there.” It appears from the outsider prospective that the State used this ‘serial’ allegation in order to make their other prosecutions of this Defendant easier.
